Is Death A Big Deal?

Just got back from a funeral, the mother of a friend died a couple of days ago. When I got there, I don’t know what to tell my friend since I never really got to meet her mom but I know I was there for her and all that I could do is giver her a hug. I am grateful for my best friend, Ian, who told me about the news. In such kind of event, I can’t really express my emotions clearly but hopefully just being there is good enough to show that I cared. It felt good to see her doing well enough.

At the funeral, my friend Sam and I started talking about deaths and it went to the topic where we have could or might have some hereditary disease in our blood. It opened up my fear that one day I might just drop dead one of these days (hopefully, not so soon). As I said to him, “I’m a walking time-bomb.” It came to the point where we agreed that living our lives as much we can or hope it would be is good enough, just taking one step at a time. If you have a disease that might get you killed one day, don’t let it go into your head while you’re still alive. After that, we changed the topic on what we’ve been doing, etcetera, and etcetera.

So, why is death such a big deal? I honestly think that it’s not death itself that’s the big deal but how you live your life as you want it to be or rather how happy you are in living your life. How do we know what and when our life will end? It’s only up to yourself on how you make them. I think the most important part in one’s life is to have friends that will be there when you die and remember you for the things you’ve done.

People tend to see things differently when they can’t get their life to be like in a movie or so-called – “live happily ever after.” Sometimes, our thoughts on how we want our life should be are molded by how our parents want us to be. I am not saying that you should not do what your parents told you to but live your life as happy as you can. Inspire!

And never forget that God is always with you.
