Playing Online Games

Some people think that playing an online game is such a waste of time. In some ways it is. From my point of view,  it’s because I can talk to my friends online and hang out with them virtually. Growing up, I never had the chance to play outside since my parents forbade me to do so. Early years of my high school days, my second brother introduced me the Dungeon’s & Dragon’s table top role playing game. It was then my interest on mythical creatures grew, as my own imaginings of what elves are like and what dragons should be but I didn’t dwell too much on it. Though, we never gotten to play long since back then people think that D&D is demonic. It seemed that I grew up too fast that I didn’t put much time on games.

When I started working, that’s when I learned about online games and tried out the one called “Ragnarok Online” as my friend asked me to give it a go. Having few friends back then, I never had any interest on going outside of my house. Playing console or computer games only bore me once I finished the normal mode. Nothing made my interest peak for more than two to three months or even just weeks. Someone told me that there are only two types of online gamer: one is for the money; and the other is for the fame. He said I’m the one that goes under the number two category. I didn’t deny his statement since I do like showing off my character even if she’s not rich or fully geared. As longs as my character can perform what she’s made to do, then I am happy.

Even now, I play the game World of Warcraft along with my friends and guildmates. I’ve been playing the game for more than a year now but before that I was playing Guildwars. I didn’t stop playing Guild Wars because I didn’t like it. I still like it. I’m just waiting for the part two of guildwars. I am the type who likes doing pvp most of the time and doing quests. I don’t like the grinding anymore. So what peaks my interest in playing these mmorpg? Though, I did try a lot of online games and only a few made me stay longer than a year. And those games involved good story lines, good community, great scenes, good graphics, and great game play. For the world of warcraft, my reason is simple. I’ve played the strategy game and liked the story as they have.

People may wonder why I am so emersed in playing MMORPG. I could say that if you have a hobby, this is one of mine.
