Online Games and their Lore
If you guys have been following me on Twitter, I posted a link on the Guild Wars 2 Trailer a few weeks ago. From the first time I saw the trailer up until now, I am still at an awe. This is one of the best game trailer that I have yet seen. Why, do you ask? First of all, the digital art, the sound effects, and the story that they showed. Even though the 3d graphics inside the game is already outstanding, they used digital art on the first half of the trailer and focused on the lore. I think they used after effects for the animation. In the middle of the trailer they started matting the art over the 3d graphics featuring the game itself. I would think that If I’m not a gamer, seeing this trailer would really entice me to try the game.
On the side note, before I started playing this game, I was one of those gamers who just play online game, level my character, and kill other players. Then make a blog about my character and make a story of my own. When I started playing Guild Wars, that is when I really felt that I am living the story behind each chapter. Also, in this game, it actually had me think of strategies on how to finish ones quest. Not to mention getting all the Elite skills that cannot be bought from NPCs while coming up with a set of skills for certain quests or maps.
Now from seeing this trailer, I went searching on google if someone did a review on Guild Wars 2 and there I found an interview.
I saw a comment from a gamer in a post containing an interview about the lore of the up coming game sequel as I will quote:
I’ve played Guild Wars and I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you telling me there is a story? I should try reading something once and a while.
I’d like to apologize in advance to whoever made that comment. I was amazed or shock rather that there are still people who does not think that the game they play doesn’t have a back story, most especially in Guild Wars. But it’ll be hypocritical of me if I didn’t say that I was like that, some of the time.
