Street Fighter IV opening scene

I am not much of a console gamer but my brother is one and he showed me the opening scene of the game. It really caught my attention but later on, I uttered “Aww, it’s CG.” As I was looking at it closely, I realized that it was already in 3D but I am impressed on how they turned it to look like it was painted on a canvas or other kind of textured paper.

Once again, my frustration of being a web designer got the best of me. I used to do water color but I stop since work always kept me busy. My brother is trying to make a point about the opening scene that even if it’s 3d it took them a lot of time to compose such animation. If they ever did make a traditional art and turn it into an animation that will top everything but it is still amazing how they can come up with this.
